13 Programmable Feature Keys

These keys are for Lines or Features. They are ordered through UNITS. Keys 11, 12 & 13 depend upon Central Office (CO) enabled/disabled function (see Program, below)

Adjustable Volume Control

  • Alerter volume; press <<< >>> to adjust while ringing
  • Handset volume; press <<< >>> to adjust while using the handset on a call
  • Hands-free speaker volume; press Hands-free button (when key 1 is a Line and not Automatic Call Distribution Line (ACD), press <<< >>> to adjust
  • On-hook monitor speaker volume; press a line key for dial tone and press <<< >>> to adjust

Caller ID and Display

  • Caller ID (number only) is standard on the model #5316
  • Display shows useful information about your calls or features

Hands Free Speakerphone

  • Press Hands-free button instead of picking up handset (Key 1 is a Line and not Automatic Call Distribution Line (ACD)
  • Press RLS key to end your call or hang up if on handset

~OR~

  • During a call, press Hands-free and replace handset in cradle
  • Press RLS key to end your call or hang up if on handset

Hold

  • During a call, press the hold button and indicator beside line key will flash
  • To return to a held call, press the line key that is on hold

~OR~

  • During a call, press another line key to place another call on hold or answer another call
  • The original caller is placed on automatic hold and the indicator beside the line key will flash
  • To return to a held call, press the line key that is on hold

Mute

  • Press the Mute button while on a Hands-free or handset call
  • Press the Mute button again to return to Hands-free or handset operation

Program
The Program Key allows you to enter Programming Mode to set up the following Manufacturer features:

  • Language:
    • Press Program
    • Press <<< >>> until Language is displayed
    • Press Hold
    • Press <<< >>> until desired Language is shown on display
    • Press Hold
    • Press Program or Rls to exit
  • Alerter:
    • Press Program Key
    • Press <<< >>> until you see Alerter Volume displayed
    • Press Hold
    • Press <<< >>> to adjust the volume level. Bars on the display will indicate changes
    • Press Hold to save the new alerter volume level
    • Press Program or Rls to exit
  • Predial:
    Works with Line 1 and can't be Automatic Call Distribution Line (ACD), this feature allows the dialed number to be displayed first before it is dialed out on the line.
    To enable Predial:
    • Press Program
    • Press <<< >>> until Predial? is displayed
    • Press Hold
    • Press <<< >>> until enabled is displayed
    • Press Hold
    • Press Program or Rls to exit
  • Call Timer:
    Times call in progress
    • Press Program
    • Press <<< >>> until Call Timer? is displayed
    • Press Hold
    • Press <<< >>> to Enable or Disable Call Timer on Display
    • Press Hold to save setting
    • Press Program or Rls to exit
  • Memory:
    Allows programming of key 12 with three phone numbers that can be auto-dialed.
    • To program a number into memory:
      • Press Program.
      • Press <<< >>> until Memory? is displayed. (CO feature must be disabled and Automatic Call Distribution Line (ACD) can't be on Key 1)
      • Press Hold.
      • Press <<< >>> until the desired memory location (M1, M2, or M3) is shown on display.
      • Enter the phone number (press Key 11 to insert a Pause if needed) you wish to store or keep a number by skipping to step 6.
      • Press Hold to save the number in its M1, 2, or 3 location.
      • Press Program or Rls to exit.
    • To auto-dial a number using the Memory Key:
      • Press the Memory Key until the stored number you wish to call is shown on the display.
      • Pickup handset or press Hands-free key.
  • Pause:
    Allows you to insert a pause during a dialing sequence, i.e. 9 + pause + 8218211
    • Press Key 11 at appropriate time of programming.
  • Save:
    Allows you to save the phone number you are calling so that you can redial the number quickly the next time you call. The number will remain in memory until you are on another phone number and decide to save it.
    • To save the number you are calling:
      • Press Key 13, Save #
      • After two seconds the number will display and be placed in that keys memory.
    • To make a call using the Save # key:
    • Press Save # key.
      • Pick up handset or press Hands-free Number is dialed automatically.
        NOTE: Must not have Key 1 programmed for Automatic Call Distribution Line (ACD).
  • Time and Date Format:
    To change to desired format; dd/mm/yr, etc.
    • Press Program.
    • Press <<< >>> until Time and Date Format? is displayed.
    • Press Hold
    • Press <<< >>> until format desired is on display.
    • Press Hold to save setting
    • Press Program or Rls to exit.
  • Time and Date Set:
    • Press Program
    • Press <<< >>> until Time and Date? is shown on the display
    • Press Hold
    • Enter the date using the format shown on the display
    • Enter the current time based upon the 24 hour clock
    • Press Program or Rls to exit programming mode

UNITS Installed Features -

Three-way Conference/Call Transfer

  • Call Transfer:
    Allows you to transfer a call to another UNITS phone number. This is accomplished by using the CONF 3 button.
    • While on an established call, depress CONF 3 (hear 3 beeps & dial tone); caller is on temporary hold
    • Dial the 5-digit UNITS extension to which you are transferring
      • Screened: When party answers, announce you are transferring a call; depress CONF 3 to connect all parties. (If party answers and doesn't want to accept transfer then press line key calling party is being held on to return to original caller)
      • Unscreened: Do not wait for party to answer, when hear ringing depress CONF 3 and go immediately to next step
      • To complete the transfer, depress RLS button and hang-up. Call is transferred and you are disconnected from the call
  • Three-Way Conference:
    Must be ordered through UNITS.
    Enables you to conference your telephone with two additional parties. These parties can be either campus or off campus telephones. At least one telephone must be a UNITS telephone number and remain as part of conference. Maximum number of three parties are allowed.
    • You are talking with someone and want to add a third party to your conversation
    • Depress CONF 3 (hear 3 beeps & dial tone); caller is on temporary hold
    • Dial number of third party as normal.
    • When the third party answers, you may talk with the third party. (The other party can't hear the conversation at this point.)
    • Depress CONF 3 button to connect all parties
  • Consultation:
    Allows you to put a caller on "hold" while you talk privately with a third party.
    • You are talking with someone and want to consult with a third party.
    • Depress CONF 3 (hear 3 beeps & dial tone); caller is on temporary hold
    • Dial number of third party as normal.
    • When the third party answers, you may talk with the third party. (The other party can't hear the conversation at this point.)
    • To return to the original party, press the button next to the flashing diamond. The "consulted" party is placed on hold.
    • Depress CONF 3 to return to the "consulted" party.
      You may toggle between the two parties as many times as you wish.
