User Instructions
Placing a Call on Hold
- Press the Hold button
- Return the handset to the cradle
Note: If you do not retrieve the call after 15 minutes, the call is automatically dropped.

- Lift the handset or press the Hands-free Mute button

Transferring a Call
Note: In order to transfer a call, the phone must have the 3WC feature.
- Press the Link button; hear 3 beeps and dial tone (the caller is placed on hold)
- Dial the 5 digit number you are transferring the call to
- Press the Link button (You are now connected to both callers)
Note: If the number to which you are transferring to is busy, press the Link button twice slowly to return to your original call.
- Press the Rls button

Re-dialing a Call
- Press the Redial button (the last number you dialed is displayed)
- Press the up or down arrow buttons to scroll through the list of the last five numbers dialed
- Lift the handset, press the Hands-free Mute button, or press the Dial button (the phone will automatically dial the number)

Making a Hands-free Call
- Press the Hands-free Mute button
- Enter the number you wish to call
- Press the Rls button when call is complete

Switching to a Hands-free Call
- Press the Hands-free Mute button
- Hang up the handset
- Press the Rls button when call is complete

Putting a Call On Mute
- Press the Hands-free Mute button to first put the caller on Hands-free
- Press the Hands-free Mute button again (You can now hear your caller but your caller cannot hear you. The light beside the Hands-free Mute button will flash.)
- To speak to your caller, press the Hands-free Mute button again, or pick up the handset

Changing the Contrast of the Display
- Press the Contrast button until the desired setting appears (8 different settings)

Turning the Ringer Off
- Press the left side of the Volume bar, located below the dial pad, until the ringer is off (Ringer is OFF is displayed)

Turning the Ringer On
- Press the right side of the Volume bar, located below the dial pad, until you reach the desired ring volume

Changing the Ring Tone
- Make sure that the ringer is turned on
- Press the Set Options button, located below the up and down arrow buttons.
Note: a sliding bar may be covering this button; if so, slide the bar to the right to access the Set Options button.
- Press the down arrow button three times, or press the 3 on the dial pad
- Press the 3 on the dial pad
- Press the down arrow button to review the four different ring tones available
- Press the Save button when you reach the desired ring tone (Ring tone confirmed is displayed)

Changing the Ringer Volume
- While the telephone is ringing, press the left side of the Volume bar to decrease, and the right side to increase the ringer volume

Changing the Receiver Volume
- While you are on the telephone, press the left side of the Volume Bar to decrease, and the right side to increase the volume level

Changing the Speaker Volume
- While you are listening through the speaker, press the left side of the Volume Bar to decrease, and the right side to increase the volume level

Changing the Time and/or Date
- Press the Set Options button, located below the up and down arrow buttons
Note: a sliding bar may be covering this button; if so, slide the bar to the right to access the Set Options button.
- Press the down arrow button twice, or press the 2 on the dial pad
- Press 2 on the dial pad
- Press the number on the dial pad corresponding to the time you want for hours
- Press the Save button
- Press the numbers on the dial pad corresponding to the time you want for minutes
- Press the Save button
- Press the * (star) button for am or the # (pound) button for pm
- Press the number on the dial pad corresponding to the month.
- Press the Save button
- Press the number on the dial pad corresponding to the day of the month.
- Press the Save button
- Press the Rls button
Note: When the information on the display is correct, press the Save button to proceed to the next step. TOP
Selecting the Dial Pad Mode
When the dial pad is On, the telephone automatically dials out and turns on Hands-free as soon as you press a dial pad key or a memory key. When the dial pad is Off, you must lift the handset or press the Hands-free Mute or Dial button before the number is dialed.
- Press the Set Options key
- Press the down arrow button five times, or press the 5 on the dial pad
- Press 5 on the dial pad to change from Off to On, or On to Off

Using the Directory button
The Directory stores up to 50 entries in alphabetical order so that you can dial numbers directly. To save a number in the directory:
- Press the Save button
- Press the Directory button
- Enter the number using the dial pad
- Press the Save button
- Using the dial pad, enter a name. If you want your Directory sorted by the last name, enter the last name first. If you do not enter a name, the entry will be sorted at the beginning of the Directory. (Note: If you do not want to enter a name, proceed to the next step.)
- To program a name, find the dial pad button that has the first character of the name. Keep pressing it until the correct letter appears (i.e. to program the letter C, press the 2 button 3 times).
- To move on to the next letter, press a different dial pad button.
- If the next letter you need is on the same button, press the right arrow button to move cursor to the next space.
- If you need to change a digit or letter, press the left arrow button to erase it.
- To switch between upper and lower case letters, press the Hold button.
- When you’ve finished entering the name, press the Save button. Press the Save button
- Press the Rls button
To make a call from the directory:
- Press the Directory button
- Press the up or down arrow buttons to find the number to be dialed
Note: To see listings that start with a particular letter, press the appropriate dial pad key. Press the down arrow button to proceed from there.
- Lift the handset, press the Hands-free Mute button, or the Dial button (the number is automatically dialed)
To edit a number or name in the directory:
- Press the Directory button
- Press the down or up arrow button to find the number to be edited
- Press the left arrow button to begin editing the number shown in the display
- To change the number, press the left arrow button to backspace. Use the dial pad to enter new number.
Note: If you do not want to change the number, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Save button
- To change the name, press the left arrow button to backspace. Use the dial pad to enter new name.
Note: If you do not want to change the name, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Save button
- Press the Rls button
To delete an item in the directory:
- Press the Directory button
- Press the down or up arrow button to find the number to be deleted
- Press the # (pound) button twice
- Press the Rls button
To delete all items in the directory:
- Press the Directory button
- Press the # (pound) button twice
- Press the Rls button

Using the Memory Keys
To save a number and name in a memory button:
- Have the desired number in the display
(If no number is displayed, proceed to the next step.)
- Press the Save button
- Press the memory button where you want to save the number
- Enter the number using the dial pad. You can enter a maximum of 24 digits.
Note: If you require a pause in the number, press the Hold button.
- Press the Save button
- Using the dial pad, enter a name. If you want your Directory sorted by the last name, enter the last name first. If you do not enter a name, the entry will be sorted at the beginning of the Directory.
Note: If you do not want to enter a name, proceed to the next step.

- Press the desired memory button
- Press the left arrow button; Hit the left arrow button again to erase the number(s) you wish to change. Re-enter a new number.
Note: If you do not need to change the number, proceed to next step.
- Press the Save button
- Press the left arrow button to remove the letter(s) of the name you wish to change; re-enter a new name
Note: If you do not need to change the name, proceed to the next step.
- Press the Save button
NOTE: The Live dial pad option must be turned Off to edit memory keys.

Using a Timer Key
You can program a memory key to time the length of a call. The timer starts and stops timing each call automatically.
Adding a timer key:
- Press the Set Options key
- Press the down arrow button 4 times, or press the 4 on the dial pad
- Press 4 on the dial pad
- Press a desired memory key
- Press the Save button
Using the call timer:
- Once on the call, press the timer key (the display shows the running time of the call)
- To show the elapsed time of the most recent call when you’re not on a call, press the timer key
To delete a timer key:
- Press the timer key
- Press the * (star) button twice

Additional Information About the Meridian Single Line Telephone (#2541)
You cannot save Directory items into memory keys. Once you are in the Directory, you can only save items to the Directory.
During a power failure, you can still dial using the dial pad and you can receive calls, but the other keys and the display will not operate until power is restored.
If you have an extension and it is in use, Extension in use appears in the display.
