Campus Cable TV Subscription Rate to Increase July 1 06/26/07
Effective July 1, 2007, the monthly subscription rate for Ohio State's Basic Cable TV service will increase to $19.00 per month, per outlet. This is a $0.50 increase from the current subscription rate of $18.50 per month.
OIT, the department provider for campus cable TV services, is implementing the rate increase to offset a continued rise in costs. Compared to fees charged by cable vendors in the Columbus area for similar services (an average of $40 per month for approximately 70 channels), the new rate remains to be a great value for campus customers. OIT continues to take measures that minimize these cost increases to campus customers while maintaining quality services.
Basic Cable TV is an optional service that can be ordered by university departments for business purposes and by students living in university-owned graduate, professional and family housing areas on the Columbus campus. Basic Cable TV is provided as a standard service in all undergraduate housing areas, including the residence halls. Ohio State's Cable TV services are not available in some university locations or in non-university buildings.
