*NOTE: You need to provide your own telephone instrument and cords. A telephone with a Caller ID display is required to use the Caller ID feature.
**International calling is not included. If you need to place international long distance calls, OIT offers a couple of inexpensive options. These options may be ordered at anytime and are billed to the person ordering service.
Voice Mail Voice mail is also an optional service in all undergraduate housing locations. You may request a voice mailbox when you activate your telephone service through OIT and Student Life will cover the cost. Contact the IT Service Desk at 688-HELP (4357) for more information or to activate your voice mailbox.
Call Waiting Feature
This feature is included with telephone service and allows you to answer a second incoming telephone call, while temporarily placing the first caller on hold.
How To Use Call Waiting
While talking with the first caller, you will hear a beep tone in your ear. Simply depress either the switchhook or flash/link button on your telephone. This will place your first caller on hold and connect you to your second incoming caller. After you have finished your conversation with the second caller, depress the switchhook or flash/link button again on the telephone and you will be reconnected with your first caller.
You can temporarily deactivate the Call Waiting feature by dialing *74 before placing a call. This can be especially important to use when you wish to transmit computer data across your telephone line. Call Waiting is automatically reactivated when you place your next call.
Caller ID Feature
Caller ID is included with telephone service and provides telephone number identification only for incoming local and campus calls. A telephone instrument with a Caller ID display is required to utilize this feature.
