UNITS Pay-Per-View

About PPV

Pay-Per-View (PPV) service puts you in control of your entertainment viewing, enabling you to order programming on demand. Our PPV line-up features two movie channels and one special event channel connecting you to a wide variety of hit movies and unique special events.

Pay-Per-View is an optional service that must be ordered using a UNITS converter box and remote control (impulse ordering). To order Pay-Per-View movies or events, you must first set up the service by creating your own 5-digit Access Code and acquire a converter box from UNITS. You also need to have UNITS Basic Cable service in order to add PPV services. The person that orders the converter box must establish the Pay-Per-View service and create the Access Code. Your Access Code is tied to your converter box for Pay-Per-View ordering purposes and to your UNITS account for billing purposes. Only one Access Code per converter box can be created.

PPV Programming and Pricing

PPV programming and pricing varies and is available through your converter box’s On-screen Interactive Viewing Guide. The On-screen Interactive Guide provides movie titles, prices, playtimes, ratings and brief descriptions. This information is accessible by pressing either the “Menu” or “Guide” buttons on the remote, or by going directly to one of the Pay-Per-View channels.

Signing up for Pay-Per-View service:

To take advantage of Pay-Per-View, you must first sign up for the service.  To sign up:

  1. Access the online account mangement system and log in.
  2. Select the "Order Service" option.
  3. Select "Cable TV (Basic, Premium Channels, Pay-Per-View)" option and click "SUBMIT."
  4. Under Premium Services you may add....
  5. You should then enter a 5 digit access code into the field at the right of "Create Your Pay-Per-View Access Code."
  6. At that time, you may order any other Cable TV services if desired, then click "SUBMIT" and complete the remaining Pay-Per-View process.
  7. If a converter box is not already in the room, it will need to be installed before Pay-Per-View ordering can begin.

Equipment Needed:

When ordering Pay-Per-View services, you will also need to request an analog converter box package if you don't already have one. UNITS leases analog converter box packages, which includes a remote and our on-screen program guide, for a one-time installation fee of $10. There is no monthly fee to lease a converter box package.*

Please allow up to five (5) business days for installation. A UNITS technician will need to access your room/apt. to install the converter box and set up service. You will also need to complete a "Permission to Enter" form when ordering service.

*NOTE: Only one converter box per room is needed. The converter box package is the property of UNITS and The Ohio State University. A damaged or missing converter box and/or remote will be billed to the individual that requested the converter box package. There is a $50 replacement cost for a damaged or missing converter box and/or remote.

How to Change your Pay-Per-View Access Code:

NOTE: Only the person who initially set the PPV access code can change its value.

  1. Access the online account mangement system and log in.
  2. Select the "Order Service" option.
  3. Select "Cable TV (Basic, Premium Channels, Pay-Per-View)" option and click "SUBMIT."
  4. Under "Premium Services already purchased" section, if Pay-Per-View has ben activated by the user, the code will be displayed.
  5. Click inside the field and change the code to the desired value.
  6. Click "SUBMIT" and follow the ordering process to completion.

You will recieve a confirmation and will be able to use the new Access Code at the point.

Ordering PPV Movie or Event (Interactive Instructions)

You can “impulse” order PPV movies and events through your analog converter box and remote using your Access Code.* Our Interactive Online Instructions guide you through the PPV order process. Upon ordering a PPV movie or event, the related PPV fee will billed to your UNITS account.

*NOTE: Once you order a PPV movie or event, you cannotcancel it or change the playtime. UNITS will not issue credits for any Pay-Per-View programming ordered. You are responsible for all charges placed against your Access Code; please verify you have ordered correctly before finishing the process. Also, keep your Access Code secure; do not share it with others.

Cancelling Pay-Per-View Service via the Web

  1. Access the Online Account Management System at http://www.units.osu.edu/account_man.
  2. Log in.
  3. Select the Order Service option.
  4. Select "Cable TV (Basic, Premium Channels, Pay-Per-View)" option and click SUBMIT.
  5. Under the "Premium Services already purchased" section, if Pay-Per-View has been activated, the code will be displayed.
  6. Click inside the REMOVE box to mark the service for removal.
  7. Click SUBMIT and follow the ordering process to completion.
  8. A confirmation will be displayed.
